Hi! I am Daniela and I would like you to know that you are warmly welcomed here!

My Story

Hi! My name is Daniela and, although it is likely you might be in some kind of emotional pain right now, I am glad you are here. It takes courage to seek help.

Looking back, I remember many times in my life when I was paralyzed by ANXIETY. Memories that can be retrieved from as early as my childhood. Fear to sleep away from my parents, constantly cold/sweaty hands and feet, nausea, many uncomfortable physical symptoms that no doctor could diagnose. Strong feelings that, for times, inhibited me from enjoying life.

I met my first therapist in 1999 during a DEPRESSION episode that caught me and my family off guard. Back then we had no idea what we were dealing with as mental illness was considered something that would never happen to me!

One thing I knew: that was not the life I had in my dreams! I was just too stubborn to accept that was my fate, or that I should believe there was no effective treatment for what I was feeling. The INQUIETUDE in me would not let me stop searching for the right treatment. I must say that the journey was not easy and involved a lot of willingness, VULNERABILITY, courage to seek help, patience, and the BELIEF that I could be healed (that was the hardest part).

Psychotherapy was (and still is) an essential part of my treatment, and I have experienced the power of a non-judgemental relationship in a safe environment where I could just be me, and truly believe in this.

A change in country, a new language learned, a family formed, a master’s degree completed, and the opportunity to support those who are facing mental struggles and/or searching for a deeper understanding of themselves.

Our journey is full of bumps, but so worthwhile. MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT A LIFE SENTENCE. I wholeheartedly believe that healing is possible, and you are worth this fight.

We are all unique beings with incredible life stories, and I would be honoured to hear yours. Allow yourself to experience healing and discover that there might be more to life than this. If you want to learn more about it, please click here.

Daniela's Bio

Daniela holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She is a member in good standing with the College of Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO) and holds the title of Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

After finishing undergraduate school in 2005, Daniela decided to travel to Canada to experience a different culture and learn English. After a few months studying English, she was accepted at Ottawa University to take a course in the Human Resources field, where she devoted part of her career to.

Later on, once she was more established in Ontario, she decided it was time to follow her dream and pursue a Master’s Degree in Counselling and Psychology. Within her own healing journey, Daniela started practicing Mindfulness and stumbled upon bio and neurofeedback treatments. Months later, she decided to travel to the USA and take a course on the subject that was taught by highly recognized experts.

Having completed her internship at the Peterborough Regional Health Center and, after graduation, accepted a position with them, she had the opportunity to work with different professionals and apply her neurofeedback skills specifically in the area of Developmental Trauma. This is still ongoing.

Living in Peterborough with her family since 2010, Daniela developed deep relationships within the community (a big thanks for the New Canadians Centre, Core Chiropractic and Dr. Alan McAllister, amongst others), and it was time to open her business and welcome new clients.

My Approach

I have trained for a variety of approaches and will use the ones that best fit your needs and your personality. By working together, you can expect to learn more about SELF-AWARENESS and the power of NOTICING YOURSELF and your patterns – that is where it lies our ability to change things that are not serving us anymore. It is not only about learning skills to cope with but also creating strategies to live by.

Whether in your life that is called anxiety, depression, life transition, relationship issues, traumatic experience, increase confidence, and so on – to heal and change, we are invited to come back home.

Together, we will establish goals and develop a plan for reaching that. Psychotherapy is not a linear process, so it is important to have a focus on our work, even if that changes over time.

“Finding yourself is not really how it works. You aren’t a ten-dollar bill in last winter’s coat pocket. You are also not lost. Your true self is right there, buried under cultural conditioning, other people’s opinions, and inaccurate conclusions you drew as a kid that became your beliefs about who you are. Finding yourself is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you”
